Acrylic Sheet Articles

Acrylic sheets are used on tanning beds to support the weight of the tanning enthusiast as well as to protect them from the tanning bed bulbs and electronics inside the tanning booth.  They, generally, allow ultraviolet light to transmit through them, which enables the skin to tan from the UVA and UVB rays.  Over time, the acrylic sheet can get hazy and stop allowing as much transfer of UV rays through it.  Also, when those who use the tanning bed are using outdoor tanning lotions, these tanning oils can interact with the acrylic sheet and prevent the UVA/UVB light from passing through.  I recommend that every tanning salon owner keep a UV meter on-hand and test, every so often, the difference between the UV light that comes straight from the tanning bulbs and after putting the acrylic sheet back on.  Since the acrylic sheet has to be removed every time the tanning bulbs are replaced, this is a good time to check whether your acrylic sheet might be impacting the tanning experience and causing customer dissatisfaction.
